Winnebago RV is launching a nationwide hunt for five caravans stolen from a holding yard at Tullamarine on Sunday February 22.
Just days after officially launching Winnebago RV into Australia at the 2015 Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow, the Apollo Group is working with police to track down two of the first official USA-built Winnebago caravans ever imported to Australia, and three European-built Adria caravans, a brand also marketed by the Apollo Group.
Winnebago RV CEO Luke Trouchet said he was shocked by the bold theft and urges anyone who has information to come forward.
“The theft would have been a major operation at our yard on Sunday night or early Monday morning requiring at least five vehicles with tow bars to tow those five caravans away, so we hope someone can recall seeing it and can help us and police with their investigations,” he said.
Mr Trouchet said the silver grey colouring and giant ‘W’ logo on the exterior and sleek shapes of the missing Winnebago Minnie caravans would make them instantly recognisable.
“None of these caravans have been delivered to buyers from the Victorian show yet, so if you see one on the road – you know it’s stolen,” he said.
Mr Trouchet said the missing Adria caravans would also be easily recognisable due to their giant but unique skylight windows.
“We were due to deliver these caravans to our dealerships around Australia this week, and we are desperate to track them down,” Mr Trouchet said.
Winnebago RV and Adria appreciate any efforts by media or the public to share the photos on social media.
Any information regarding the theft can be directed to Shayne Culverhouse, Winnebago RV sales manager, on Shayne@apollocamper.com or 07 3265 9259.
